Welcome to Krav Maga Yashir Boston!
If you are looking for authentic, non-commercialized Krav Maga in Boston, that has been proven to be effective, welcome to Krav Maga Yashir Boston! Head Instructor, Gershon Ben Keren,
has been working in the private security sector since 1990, both operationally and as a trainer (you can find out what makes our program so effective by clicking here, to read his bio).
When you are dealing with real-life violence there is no room to explore and try-out potential solutions, you need to be able to rely on those things which have been previously proven
to be effective. Over the years Krav Maga has become somewhat commercialized, with much of the training taking the form of a workout. Whilst, this has benefits to fitness and health,
it doesn’t do much to help somebody deal with and survive a real-life violent assault. This type of fitness training is referred to in Israel, as “Cosher Kravi” (meaning Combat Fitness
in Hebrew), and is looked on a something distinct and separate to actual Krav Maga training. This is not to say that fitness and conditioning isn’t important but rather that it isn’t a
substitute for effective fighting skills, and proven techniques delivered in a direct manner.
At Krav Maga Yashir Boston, we focus on the development of fighting skills along with the practical application of tactics and techniques. The goal of our program is to get somebody “combat ready” quickly and efficiently and be able to deal successfully with the real-life incidents they are likely to face. If you are ready to learn the simple and devastatingly effective system of self-defense from somebody whose has experience using it, then you should come and try out Krav Maga for yourself by attending one of our beginner classes. Why Is Krav Maga Recognized As Such An Effective Fighting System
There are several reasons why Krav Maga is so effective. Perhaps one of the most important is that it was a system of fighting that was born out of necessity; it had to be practical and effective
to use and learnt quickly. Those in Israel knew that as soon as they declared an independent state, the surrounding Arab countries would invade with the goal of pushing the fledgling state back
“into the sea”. This meant that citizens had to learn to defend themselves quickly. This meant stripping everything down to the barest essentials, and using natural, instinctive movements e.g.,
there wasn’t the time to train a person in a blocking system that went against the way they would naturally react when attacked, such as flinching against circular attacks, or grabbing the arm or
hands of the attacker if choked or strangled etc. This means that Krav Maga techniques and solutions are based on the way we will respond when attacked and threatened rather than how we might
think we’d like to react and respond. Real-life violence is very different to combat sports which are consensual, and which competitors have the time to mentally prepare themselves for the bout/fight.
Another thing which makes Krav Maga so effective is the way its techniques are grouped and organized into “families”. Because Krav Maga needs to provide solutions to unarmed and armed attacks,
which might involve single or multiple attackers, who may be grappling and/or striking, when standing or on the ground etc. If the system was to present unique solutions for each event/dimension of a
fight, it would require learning so many techniques, that there would be little to time to practice them all. Krav Maga reuses the same common movements over and over again, with the smallest
variations to deal with a multitude of different threats and attacks. This means that when a Krav Maga practitioner is practicing how to deal with a certain attack/threat, they are also practicing
how to deal with many more. If you would like to read more about Krav Maga,
